1939 born in Hubei Province, Central China
1958-1962 studied English and Russian at the Normal University of Central China
1981-1982 trained in linguistics at Wuhan University, Wuhan
1983-1984 trained in linguistics at Fudan University, Shanghai
1992-1993 co-operated as a visiting scholar in the IPrA Research Center in Belgium


Career
1962-1988 taught linguistics, English literature and American literature at the West-
Hubei University
1983 appointed lecturer
1987 appointed associate professor
1990-1996 granted vice-editor-in-chief of Modern Foreign Languages in GdUFS
1991 granted supervisor for the degree of Master of Arts in linguistics
1992-1993 invited by the IPrA Research Center (at University of Antwerp in Belgium) as research fellow for co-operative researches
1993- granted full-time professor in the Center for Linguistics at GdUFS
1994 received the special governmental subsidy from the State Council, China
1999 appointed supervisor of doctor candidates in pragmatics & the philosophy of language by the National Key Research Institute of Humanities & Social Sciences £¨located in GdUFS£©
2004- engaged part-time professor and supervisor of doctor candidates in the philosophy of language by some universities including Sichuan University and so on.
